Data Center template for Visio 2010

System requirements                   Instructions                   Additional resources                    Online view

Use this Microsoft Visio 2010 template to create a visual overview of your data center and monitor the status, including the current temperature, power consumption, and availability of specific racks. This template uses standard Visio department shapes, work flow objects, and network shapes to diagram the layout and contents of a data center and provide a detailed view of specific actively monitored racks. It also uses a PivotDiagram to show a hierarchical view of server racks by administrator. This template could be further extended to show the status of departmental IT assets located outside of a centrally managed data center.

What am I looking at?

The diagram you can see here is a web view of the sample diagram, published through Visio Services. Using the controls at the top, you can change which section of the diagram you see, zoom in or out for a closer or wider view, and even see linked data sources through the shape information pane.

With Visio Services and either Visio Professional 2010 or Visio Premium 2010, you can publish any type of diagram (static or data-linked) to SharePoint, so others can view the diagram without needing to have Visio installed on their machines.
