Application Deployment sample diagram for Visio 2010

System requirements                   Instructions                   Additional resources                    Online view

Use this Microsoft Visio 2010 template to create a high-level visual overview of the centralized applications deployed in your organization and the application servers they are deployed on. This template uses the PivotDiagram functionality in Visio to create a hierarchical view of applications and application servers. In this sample diagram, the template uses linked data to illustrate two views: by application (broken down by department and server) and by application server (broken down by application). This template could be used for similar IT purposes, such as by showing virtual machine roles (database, directory, file, web, and so on) by physical server.

What am I looking at?

The diagram you can see here is a web view of the sample diagram, published through Visio Services. Using the controls at the top, you can change which section of the diagram you see, zoom in or out for a closer or wider view, and even see linked data sources through the shape information pane.

With Visio Services and either Visio Professional 2010 or Visio Premium 2010, you can publish any type of diagram (static or data-linked) to SharePoint, so others can view the diagram without needing to have Visio installed on their machines.
