Session 1: Get started with the right template in Visio 2010

See how to get started in Microsoft Visio 2010 with the right template. This video introduces the eight categories of templates available in Visio 2010: business, engineering, flowchart (including Business Process Modeling Notation [BPMN] and SharePoint workflow templates in Visio Premium 2010), general, maps and floor plans, network, schedule, and software and database. It also shows how easy it is to create drawings by starting with sample diagrams.
This video is part of a series covering the basics of how to use Visio features and capabilities. Learn more and view other videos in this series.

What am I looking at?

The diagram you can see here is a web view of the template, published through Visio Services. Using the controls at the top, you can change which section of the template you see, zoom in or out for a closer or wider view, and even see linked data sources through the shape information pane.

With Visio Services and either Visio Professional 2010 or Visio Premium 2010, you can publish any type of diagram (static or data-linked) to SharePoint, so others can view the diagram without needing to have Visio installed on their machines.
